Bailey Allshouse

Picture
Bailey Allshouse is a native Michigander, who began his movement training at the age of sixteen, as a member of the Harrison High School Dance program. In 2013, Bailey sought to pursue dance professionally, and took part in the American Dance Festival, preceding his attendance to Wayne State University that fall. Despite his denial to the 2017 cohort, Bailey attended dance classes and performance rehearsals - at length, sealing his spot as a BFA dance student and talent scholar. During his studies, Allshouse was fond of expressing himself choreographically, and as such, his work was selected for presentation in four departmental concerts. He completed his degree in the spring of 2017, summa cum laude.
With support from WSU, and the Detroit dance community, Bailey has conducted himself in work by Doug Varone, Stefanie Batten Bland, and Helder Seabra, among many. Additionally, Allshouse believed in customizing his education to better suit his creative pursuits. As such, he has received notable instruction from groups like; Gallim Dance, Batsheva Dance Company, and B12 Berlin. Yet, Bailey continues to formulate his choreographic voice, and is navigating space and time that will healthily and peacefully, foster his craft as a movement artist. At the age of 25, he has had the honor of being a recipient of the Copperfoot Award for Choreography, and the Maggie Allesse Choreography Award. His work has also been selected for presentation at the 2017 ACDA East Central Conference Gala, the Oakland Dance Festival, the 2017 and 2018 Maggie Allesee Choreography Competition Galas, the AZOTH International Choreographic Festival, and Movement Research at the Judson Church. Since returning to Detroit in 2019, Allshouse has made it a priority to involve himself in Detroit’s growing and professional dance community. As such, New Dance Festival, Detroit Dance Exchange, and Brighton Dance Festival include some of his recent credits. As well, he choreographed and fully produced his own evening length movement landscape, GIANTS, which premiered in September of 2019, and set new work on Oakland University’s Oakland Dance Theatre. Currently, Bailey is living in Detroit, Michigan, and working toward a YTT 200 Ashtanga Yoga certification.
