Kathy King is the founder/director of the national summer dance event, Brighton Dance Festival, along with teaching full time at Michelle's Academy of Dance & Performing Arts Center in Brighton, MI for the past 14 years. She is also current head coach of the Cleary University Dance Team, and is a guest artist at Eastern Michigan University's School of Music & Dance. In 2006, Kathy founded the professional non-profit company Michigan Dance Project, touring Michigan for eight seasons, and was named as a Crain's Detroit Business "20 in their 20s" in 2013. Other teaching highlights include the American College Dance Festival, the Cecchetti Council of America, and Artists-in-Training Convention. In addition to teaching dance, Kathy serves on several non-profit boards, including the Pure Existence Dance Company, the Brighton Center for the Performing Arts, and the Arthur Secunda Museum at Cleary University. Each summer, Kathy travels nationwide as a professional dance educator, teaching master classes and seminars to students of all ages.
