Tiffanie CarsonTiffanie Carson is an educator, mentor, advisor, and performance artist. She earned her MFA in Dance from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, and completed her BFA in Dance Performance at Chapman University. Currently, Tiffanie is Adjunct Assistant Professor of Dance at the Conservatory at Shenandoah University and is specialist in the area contemporary & commercial jazz dance. She is instrumental in teaching jazz technique classes, as well as guiding senior seminar coursework. Tiffanie has presented works at the 2016 and 2018 New York Jazz Choreography Dance Project at the Salvatore Capezio Theater in New York, the 2016 VelocityDC Dance Festival at Sidney Harman Hall in Washington, DC, the 2017 34th Annual Choreographers’ Showcase at the Dance Theatre in the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center in College Park, MD, as well as the 2017 Pushing Progress Series at the Salvatore Capezio Theater in New York.
Tiffanie also dances and acts as Assistant Director for Christopher K. Morgan & Artists (CKM&A, directed by Christopher K. Morgan), resident company of Dance Place in Washington DC, with whom she has performed at the Millennium Stage at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Sidney Harman Hall, as well as The Alden Theatre in McLean, VA. She has also traveled across the United States on a nine city tour as part of the creative and production team for Pōhaku. This is her 8th season with the company. From her performance of Christopher Morgan’s solo work Selling Out, Tiffanie has been described as a “very talented dancer” by IsItModern? and Carmel Morgan of CriticalDance observed "Carson's ferocity adds a different dimension to the original [and her] energy transforms the work” while "absolutely ripping the solo to shreds." Tiffanie's choreography has also garnered praise from Ms. Carmel Morgan, who described Tiffanie as having achieved "a choreographic home run” for her 2014 work, Deprivation. Ms. Morgan also stated of Carson's newest 2018 work, “B.U.G. [Backlight. Uplight. Glare.] is another certified hit for Carson, and it would be a smart move for companies to commission her choreography." Tiffanie has conducted CKM&A's annual winter and summer intensives as well as numerous residencies at universities and colleges, with Mr. Morgan, and has traveled with the company to France to conduct an intensive at the Ècole Superieure de Danse de Cannes Rosella Hightower. Tiffanie has been a dance educator for the past 18 years traveling nationally and internationally as a guest artist and choreographer. |
